SHORT THOUGHTS: Psalm 115:2-8 were the verses from my reading this morning in my closet time. There were more verses after this and one before but I just kind of stopped reading like there was a stop sign when I got to these. Then I read them again and maybe even again and absorbed them.
The last verse just spoke so loudly to my soul. We become like our idols. Likewise, my logic tells me that the concept is also true that when we follow God, we begin to look more and more like a son or daughter of our Loving Father.
Wow, that is huge and true and it made me rethink what is MOST important in my life and whether I am following any idols that I need to get rid of. It caused me to think about where I am doing a good job following God and where I may have taken a rabbit trail off His best for my life. Where have I stood strong and where have I compromised.
It is not a new concept to me but rather, a great reminder. Just like we should get a yearly physical to make sure things are going OK with our physical body, we should also get a spiritual check up every now and then too.
If I am to become like what I am following...then I had better choose what I follow very...very...very carefully. With fear and trembling even. Choose as if my life depends on it because it does in just how my life may go. My salvation is complete in Christ but I can voluntarily give back land to the enemy and limit my victory, joy and happiness because of it.
A good place to start to discover what is the most important to us is to look at how we spend our time and how we spend our money. I think if we look there, we will find a compass pointing to what we really value. We may not like what we find there and it may bring us to a "Y" in the road that makes us choose how we move forward. But though Y's can be hard...that is a good thing.
Anyway, that is where my thoughts are today and I am sharing them with you in hopes that it may help and challenge you.

Psalm 115:2-8 (NIV)
Why do the nations say, “Where is their God?” Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him. But their idols are silver and gold, made by human hands. They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see. They have ears, but cannot hear, noses, but cannot smell. They have hands, but cannot feel, feet, but cannot walk, nor can they utter a sound with their throats. Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.
