SHORT THOUGHTS: In the midst of the pain that comes with this life, there is still lots of happiness and joy to be found if we work on the things we "can" change and lay down the things we cannot. If we refuse to allow the bad to make us miss all the blessings that are still here right in front of our faces, we will begin to see that happiness and joy are still all around us...just waiting for us to notice them.

SHORT THOUGHTS: Some practical advice from the Psalms today
When I read through these verses, I especially like the visual I see in my mind of hiding God's word in my heart and again, like in Jeremiah 29:13, seeking God with all your heart. They are acts of our will...something WE can choose to do.
We or...I, at least, have hidden and hide way too many things in my heart that do not belong there and have sought and seek ways and things that lead me into trouble or just as bad...just lead to no where.

SHORT THOUGHTS: Are you having issues with crooked paths? I have had plenty of "crooked path" issues throughout my life.
Looking back over my life with 20/20 hindsight, it seems to turn out that my crooked path times were always when I thought I knew something that I did not and upon closer inspection, I found that I was only following...me. That has never proved to be a great combo...EVER!!! Without God to lead and guide me...I am surely lost.

SHORT THOUGHTS: Here are some great focus verses for today and every day. As I recalled these verses in my head this morning, I was reminded of a quote I heard a while ago that at the time, stuck in me like an arrow as simply...truth. But it is life giving truth that we sometimes forget and need to remind ourselves of again and re-remember from time to time because this life here on earth can get pretty dog gone rough.
The quote goes something like, "We are not in the land of the living and moving towards the land of the dying...it is the other way around."

SHORT THOUGHTS: Spiritually speaking...when you got up today to face the world, what did you put on? We are instructed in Colossians, as God's chosen people...to actually "dress ourselves" spiritually, just like we do or at least...should do with our physical bodies...before going out to face the world, get the paper or mail or maybe even just to make a ham sandwich. Ha.

SHORT THOUGHTS: I am thinking about some questions to consider today. I am also providing some related verses to ponder for prayer and contemplation.
In whom or what are you building your life on? Is the foundation being built on shifting sand or on solid rock? Will it hold when the storms come?

SHORT THOUGHTS: This world can get kind of tough at times. But as believers in Jesus, we have somewhere to take our problems. God's Word actually tells us to cast our cares on HIM...because He cares for us. The problem is, often we don't do that.
Instead, we run around and look for answers anywhere and everywhere else except for in the One that knows the beginning from the end...the One that knows our every word before it is even on our tongues...the One who loved us enough to make a way for us to come boldly before His throne.

SHORT THOUGHTS: It's been five years now...five years since I lost the one that brought me into this world. Losing a mom is a unique loss it seems to me. Losing the one that has been there your whole life and was your gateway into this life. In some ways, the loss seems like yesterday and in other ways it seems like forever ago.

SHORT THOUGHTS: As a child, I was so bright, my dad use to call me son. Now, as a Christian, I have the privilege to again be called, “a son” by my Heavenly Father. Not because I am so great and wonderful and not because of my brightness. It’s actually not because of anything that I have done but only because of what has been done for me on the cross when Jesus made a way for one such as me. Thank you Jesus!!!
So with that great news, here is a verse for you today with a bright idea inside.

SHORT THOUGHTS: We all have a choice to make. Free will is exactly that...the right to choose. With each choice we make, we reap the consequences of that choice...be it good or bad. We are responsible in part for what our lives look like. We have a say in how we mold our lives because of the gift of free will that God has given us all.
